Barcelona's appeal of the initial rejection of their request for an extension to Dani Olmo's registration has also been rejected.

Registered initially through a loophole made possible by Andreas Christensen's injury, Olmo's current registration expires on December 31 alongside that of young forward Pau Victor and, as it stands, the club do not have the sufficient funds to extend Olmo's registration.

They were left sweating last week when a court rejected their attempt to work around La Liga's financial rules. Olmo's contract includes a clause allowing him to leave on a free transfer if he cannot be registered, with several Premier League sides taking notice.

Now, numerous outlets have reported on the failure of Barcelona's appeal, with the court insisting that the first ruling was valid and must be upheld.

Fortunately for Barcelona, they have an alternative plan lined up. A €120m sale of a section of VIP seats in Camp Nou over the next 20 years has already been agreed and now just needs final approval.

Such a deal is expected to give Barcelona the required funds to register both Olmo and Victor in Hansi Flick's squad for the second half of the season, returning them to La Liga's 1:1 spending rules - the ability to spend €1 for every €1 raised - in the process.
