Barcelona's bid to return to Camp Nou before the end of this season has been dealt a fresh blow.
A full-scale rebuild of their spiritual home has been ongoing since summer 2023 with initial plans to reopen in time for the club's 125th anniversary last November.
But the Blaugrana have been forced to push back their homecoming date several times with the most recent plans targeting a reduced capacity return in February.
According to the Athletic, however, that timeline is set to be extended until May "at the earliest" due to the delayed progress on making Camp Nou operational.
Hansi Flick's side have spent the last two seasons across the city at Montjuïc's Olympic Stadium in a lease which was originally due to expire at the end of March.
The renovation of Camp Nou, which will host games during the 2030 World Cup, is expected to be completed in full by June 2026 at a reported cost of €900m.
