According to Tobi Altschäffl and Christian Falk (via FT), Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are both lining up a possible move for Olympique Lyonnais forward Rayan Cherki.
As previously reported, Der Rekordmeister are looking to secure a long-term replacement for Leroy Sané, whose future remains uncertain with his contract set to expire come the end of the season.
Reports have linked Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku and Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens to the Allianz Arena, but Bayern could turn to a far more affordable option in Cherki.
It is understood that the Ligue 1 outfit would demand around €30-35 million for the 21-year-old, who still has another year remaining on his deal at Lyon.
As well as this, as stated within the report, Bayern have previously sent scouts out to watch Cherki, most notably in Lyon’s 3-2 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League, where the French U21 international scored one goal and registered two assists.
However, Bayern could face competition from BvB, who were looking to court Cherki in the summer.
Despite coming close to securing the Frenchman’s signature in the summer, Dortmund could reignite their interest in the 21-year-old, but whether Der Rekordmeister would interfere in a deal is unknown.
But with Die Schwarzgelben reportedly demanding €100 million for Gittens’, Bayern may view a move for Cherki as more financially suitable.
