League leaders Hamburg took another step towards promotion but they will likely be frustrated not to have emerged victorious from a match they largely dominated. Marco Richter went closest to breaking the deadlock with a strike that hit the crossbar, but ultimately neither side was able to find a breakthrough.

Ulm 2-1 DarmstadtGoals: 1-0 Röser 50’, 2-0 Batista Meier 57’, 2-1 Riedel 68’

Despite leading in almost every stat, from possession and passes to shots and even fouls, Darmstadt come away with nothing on a disappointing day at the office. Relegation battlers Ulm dug deep, especially in a one-sided first period, before a smash-and-grab goal early in second half handed them a 2-0 lead. Although the visitors pulled a goal back, they were unable to equalise and must now look nervously over their shoulders in an increasignly tight relegation battle.

Neither side was able to grab what would have been a huge three points with the teams around them still having to play today. Nevertheless, despite being unable to win today, both sides are still well in the promotion race, with Hannover in fifth and Magdeburg in fourth. Neither side displayed enough cutting edge today, despite Magdeburg having more of the ball, with either side looking most dangerous from corners.

Paderborn 1-2 CologneGoals: 1-0 Mehlem 34', 1-1 Rondić 42', 1-2 Huseinbašić 61'

Cologne have reclaimed the top spot in the Bundesliga 2. They turned the match around against Paderborn and celebrated their third consecutive victory with a 2-1 (1-1) win. Away from home to a fellow promotion chaser, the visitors put in a spirited performance, creating a bundle of chances in the second half.

Hertha Berlin 3-1 KarlsruheGoals: 1-0 Reese 16', 2-0 Reese 47', 2-1 Wanitzek 55', 3-1 Schuler 89'

In an entertaining game in Berlin, it was the hosts, and Fabian Reese, that stole the show. The visitors certainly played their part in an enthralling encounter, and came back into the game just before the hour mark. Their momentum faded however, and the hosts soon regained control, before Luca Schuler struck the final blow to confirm the three points.

Kaiserslautern 3-1 Fortuna Düsseldorf Goals: 1-0 Ritter 14’, 1-1 Oberdorf 60’, 2-1 Ache 73’, 3-1 Sirch 90+3’

Kaiserslautern boosted their promotion hopes with a comfortable win over fellow hopefuls Fortuna. Marlon Ritter sent the Red Devils in front with a fine early strike. Although the visitors briefly threatened to snatch a result after Tim Oberdorf levelled from a corner, Ragnar Ache’s superbly headed 16th goal of the season and a late Luca Sirch goal sealed the points.

Greuther Fürth 3-3 SchalkeGoals: 0-1 Karaman (9’), 1-1 Massimo (14’), 2-1 Consbruch (30’), 3-1 Srbeny (54’), 3-2 Younes (84’), 3-3 Sylla (90’+5)

Schalke snatched a dramatic draw in Fürth in a topsy-turvy encounter. In an action-packed first half, the Royal Blues first took the lead through Kenan Karaman, but Fürth responded quickly when Roberto Massimo’s diving header beat Loris Karius, with the goal eventually given after a VAR review. There was then chaos when Karius saved Dennis Srbeny’s penalty and the rebound, only for Jomaine Consbruch to bundle home the second follow-up, which was again only given after a review. Srbeny made no mistake after the restart when he fired in Fürth’s third past Justin Heekeren, who had replaced the injured Karius at the end of the first half. Greuther had a number of further chances to put the game to bed, but it was substitutes Amin Younes and Moussa Sylla who struck to level late on and keep Schalke ahead of Fürth on goal difference.

Preußen Münster 1-1 Eintracht BraunschweigGoals: 0-1 Tachie (1’), 1-1 Lorenz (pen, 4’)

Sitting 15th and 16th respectively coming into the game, this relegation six-pointer got off to a blistering start with Richmond Tachie netting for Braunschweig after just 8.5 seconds for the second-fastest goal in Bundesliga 2 history. However, the lead lasted only a couple of minutes when Marc Lorenz put away a penalty to level things again for the hosts, who would go on to control proceedings but without much further impact apart from a deflected Hólmbert Friðjónsson effort that hit the bar. The draw keeps Münster three points and one position above their opponents, who are just one point clear of the automatic relegation zone.

Jahn Regensburg 2-1 NurembergGoals: 0-1 Antiste (11’), 1-1 Flick (og, 47‘), 2-1 Ganaus (55‘)

Nuremberg missed a big opportunity to keep pace with those above them in the hunt for promotion, losing to bottom club Jahn Regensburg having initially taken the lead. Janis Antiste’s clever opener should have been the catalyst for an important three points, but the visitors failed to build on it, allowing the hosts to turn the game around in the second half. Nuremberg offered little response to their two second half goals, and can have few complaints over the result.
