FC Barcelona have only three of their players playing away on loan, including the midfielder Oriol Romeu, the centre-back Clement Lenglet, and the fullback Alex Valle.
The former two players are already quite experienced and do not have a lot of room for further growth. On the other hand, the fullback Alex Valle is still only 20 years old and has shown a lot of promise in his loan stints.
He joined the Italian side Como 04 in the last winter transfer window, and in only a few months since his move, he has established himself as an important part of Cesc Fabregas’ squad.
The Italians have been so impressed with his performance that, according to a report from SPORT, they are willing to pay the €6 million clause to permanently incorporate the defender in their team.
The young Spaniard has a contract till 2026 with Barcelona, but minutes with the Blaugrana first team have been difficult to come by for him. As a result, he is in his fourth consecutive loan stint, having previously played for FC Andorra, Levante, and Celtic Glasgow for half a season each before joining Como.
He impressed in his very debut with the Italian side, even though he was not able to help his team avoid a 2-0 defeat to Bologna in that match. Since then, he has accumulated 761 minutes in ten games for Fabregas’ team.
Thus, Como would be quite happy to have him as a permanent member of their squad. Meanwhile, Barcelona would also be content with this state of affairs, as an injection of €6 million into their coffers can help them a lot in their current financially strained circumstances, and this income can help them have greater room for manoeuvrability in the next summer transfer window.
Furthermore, with Alejandro Balde set as the fixed starter and Gerard Martin as his replacement, Valle would have found minutes very hard to come by if he had returned to the Blaugrana club. Thus, this operation is beneficial for all the involved parties.
