Manchester City's hopes of Champions League football this year have been dealt a blow after the Citizens could only muster a draw at home to Everton.
City's rivals Manchester United couldn't find a way through West Ham United in Saturday's game allowing Nick Cushing's team the opportunity to close the gap on third place.
It looked like they would do early on when Kerstin Casparij was in the right place to tap in from less than a yard from goal following Lily Murphy's nod down. The Dutch international then celebrated by paying tribute to teammate Mary Fowler who picked up an ACL injury in City's last game against rivals United in the FA Cup.
But the Toffees levelled the score in the 33rd minute after the Holmgaard sisters combined. It was Karen Holmgaard who sent in a cross from deep on the left that Sara was able to head past Khiara Keating from close range.
Neither side could go on to find a winner with Everton ultimately happy to earn a point at the Joie Stadium while City find themselves still seven points behind United with three games to go.
