Kyle Walker is set to leave Manchester City this year, and AC Milan are in a good position to land the right-back in the January mercato.

Milan are still in a difficult position at right-back. Despite having two, possibly three if you include Alex Jimenez, options, there is not a look to the future. Davide Calabria’s expected departure in June also contributes to the issue, so the Rossoneri are shopping, again.

After adding Emerson in the summer, there is still no feeling of completeness at right-back, so another signing is almost inevitable. However, whether Walker is the right man can certainly be debated.

As of right now, negotiations are in a good place, with Calciomercato.com even reporting that a deal is almost done. A draft agreement is in place for Walker to arrive on a two-year contract worth €8 million total.

However, there are still some issues to sort out, despite the picture being ‘clearer’.

Primarily, there is the issue of his arrival. With Manchester City, he holds a deal until 2026, so an end to that needs to be found, quickly. In addition to this, the Rossoneri need to fix their squad list, any new signing would mean someone would have to be removed, so this issue needs sorting.

It seems though, that Walker is ‘arriving at Milan’ as the report states, it is just the fine details now.
