Fiorentina to Fight to Keep Kean and Their Other Stars

Like every summer, Fiorentina will have to fend off offers for their top players. Moreover, they need to decide on a few options to buy and renewals. Owner Rocco Commisso wishes to confirm all their main cogs, as he told Sky during the weekend (via SOSFanta).

“Our goal is always to do better than in the previous year. We have a chance. We have the strongest squad since I’m here. Our intention is to keep David de Gea and Nicolò Fagioli, but I won’t say more. We’ll see whether they are on the same page, so we can start with an even stronger roster next season.”

Fiorentina wouldn’t have a say if a team activated Moise Kean’s €52M release clause.

“I want him to stay here. If somebody makes an offer, we’ll evaluate, but I’ll try to keep him. We’re not the first, second, or third team in Italy, but we defend what we have. Some clubs think they are the kings of Serie A and can sign whoever they want, but it won’t happen with us.”

Commisso also dished on Pietro Comuzzo, who was chased by Napoli in the summer.

“It’s true that holding onto him was a signal. We don’t need any side coming here and saying that they are more important than us, so they can purchase our players. I’d like to remember that those who left did it for very high fees like Dusan Vlahovic, Federico Chiesa, and Nicolas Gonzalez.”

Commisso defended Raffaele Palladino while Fiorentina were sputtering.

“I’ve never considered firing him. They were just rumors spread by those who think they know better. I hope he’ll be able to prove his worth to everybody.”
