The Marcus Rashford to AC Milan rumours will not go away, and on the contrary they seem to be gathering more and more momentum.
La Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Luca Bianchin begins his update with the question: ‘Is there a chance that Marcus Rashford will become a Milan player?’. The situation is ‘interesting’, as per the journalist, and it is ‘not impossible’.
The starting point is clear: the relationship between Manchester United and Rashford has broken. Ruben Amorim has been and remains very critical of his attitude, and has excluded him from several games now.
He has not fined the England international, but simply left him out of the squad entirely. Rashford kindly let it be known that he would go elsewhere by stating in an interview that he is ready for a new adventure. This, evidently, has not helped to make peace.
United will try to sell Rashford but there are several problems. One is the timing: it’s January, not the summer. Another is his salary: the forward, including image rights, earns €20m gross per season, so €13m net per season. The Red Devils would have to cover his salary.

Milan are interested because the directors see Rashford as a strong player, one who in the 2022-23 Premier League season scored 17 goals. Zlatan Ibrahimovic played with him at United so knows him well too.
The operation, at full salary, cannot be done because of the high costs. If part of the salary were covered, however, Milan could have Marcus for six months at high but not impossible figures, just over €5m. Bianchin adds that it is ‘difficult, not impossible’.
