Levi Colwill was absolutely buzzing last night speaking to the Chelsea TV cameras after his team’s 1-0 win over Tottenham.

He was asked about the impact that the solid midfield ahead of him had had, and he was glowing about not only Enzo Fernandez, who got the crucial goal to continue his excellent recent form, but also Moises Caicedo who was a machine in midfield and has been widely praised all over the shop ever since.

“Moi is just breaking up everything and making everything look so easy. If I had a mic on me when I’m playing all you’d hear is ‘oh wow, Moi’, that’s all I do, because he makes it so easy for us in the defence, because he stops everything before it gets to us.”

He’s not wrong – just look at the stats. The central defensive partnership of Colwill and Trevoh Chalobah kept a clean sheet without making a tackle or an interception between them. The reason? Caicedo’s exceptional efforts sweeping up ahead of them.

Colwill hails “Made in Cobham” partnership with Trevoh Chalobah

On the subject of that “made in Cobham” defensive pairing, Colwill also had some nice words for his defensive partner:

“Playing alongside Trevoh’s been amazing, because I used to look up to him – I still do. I’m learning, I’m becoming a bigger character on the pitch, I’m trying to help my teammates as much as possible. That’s what I’ve learned as a player.”

As he pointed out, the team all won their duels, and it went from there. That’s 4 successive clean sheets at home now for Chelsea, who have hopefully found a centre back partnership that can stay consistent until the end of the season and continue these improvements long term.
