Jackson featured for the first time in two months after he picked up a hamstring injury on deadline day against West Ham.

The 23-year-old didn’t complete the 90 minutes, which Enzo Maresca confirmed would be the case, but he was a handful and showed Chelsea exactly what they had missed in his absence.

Whilst Jackson didn’t score he’s able to hold the ball up, link play and create chances out of nothing, and he showed why he’s so important to this team.

The Senegalese has nine goals this season and his return is crucial for Chelsea in their hopes of winning the Conference League and qualifying for the Champions League.

Jackson’s return is a lift to Chelsea’s attack and he’s a vital part of this team, but Matt Law stated he could see a scenario where the striker could be sold this summer.

Speaking after the game Colwill hailed Jackson’s impact and explained why he’s so important to the current Chelsea team.

“We need to win games at the end of the day, we’re fighting for Champions League,” he told Sky Sports as cited on X.com.

“To win games we have to change style sometimes. We knew they have a high line and we have Nicolas Jackson.

“He’s a huge threat, to feet and in behind and we know if we play to his advantages we’ll score goals and today we did score goals through that.”

The Blues are in the market for a striker this summer as they seek an alternative for Jackson, who could really benefit from having another forward to learn from, and that increased competition could elevate his performance levels.

Chelsea will be hoping Jackson can rediscover his scoring touch with some big games coming up, starting with a trip to Brentford on Sunday.
