As it stands, it looks like Liverpool and Brighton are leading the race to sign £8m Southampton transfer target, Lennon Miller.
Southampton are known to be interested in signing Lennon Miller. The Motherwell teenager has had an incredible season so far and he is destined for huge things, hence why the Southampton recruitment team, with a history of sourcing top young talents, have been glowing about him.
However, like any young player first bursting onto the scene, Lennon Miller has many eyes on him currently. It is not only Southampton who would like to sign him and actually, it could be Liverpool and Brighton who lead the race.
According to a report from Caught Offside, Liverpool are keen to move to the front of the queue to sign Lennon Miller from Motherwell. This comes after the Liverpool scouts have been eagerly watching Miller and they are impressed by his performances. If Liverpool do make the front of the queue, it's believed that Brighton will not be too far behind them.
Southampton and fellow Premier League club Newcastle United have also been listed as contenders in the race, but they are not mentioned anywhere near the amount of times as Liverpool and Brighton.
In fact, the Caught Offside article only mentions Southampton when claiming: "Newcastle and Southampton are also understood to be monitoring the situation." - That's it. Monitoring the situation.
The overarching consensus is that Lennon Miller could play for a club as big as Liverpool one day. However, it is still up in the air about whether he needs to continue developing at a smaller Premier League club before making the giant leap.
Naturally, then, Brighton and Hove Albion have been linked as an impressive "stepping stone club" - Subtle jibes like this aren't uncommon when it comes to medium size clubs like Brighton (something the Saints know all about).
But hey, we'd jump at the chance of being Lennon Miller's "stepping stone club". Maybe the Saints could use the age-old cliche of them being "Liverpool's feeder club" to their benefit once again here.
If Miller wants an avenue to sign for Liverpool one day, then look no further than Southampton. We have a proven track record in that regard, after all...
