Over the past few days, the chatter surrounding Trent Alexander-Arnold and a possible transfer to Real Madrid in the summer has been relentless.

Reports in Spain suggested that the Liverpool right-back is almost certain to join Los Blancos on a free transfer when his contract with the Reds expires on June 30, 2025.

It was suggested that the 26-year-old Englishman had rejected multiple renewal offers from Liverpool and had informed those close to him that he will sign for Real Madrid.

Arne Slot hints at Alexander-Arnold stay

However, Liverpool manager Arne Slot has hinted that Alexander-Arnold might not be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.

The England right-back scored a brilliant goal for the Reds this past weekend in their hammering of West Ham United in the Premier League.

After finding the back of the net, Alexander-Arnold celebrated the goal by making the ‘keep talking’ gesture amid the rising noise around his future.

Many fans perceived it to be a statement from the defender about his commitment to Liverpool and manager Arne Slot also seemed to see it that way.

When asked about Alexander-Arnold’s future after the game, he said (h/t Fabrizio Romano): “The way he celebrated his goal should tell you enough.”

With Alexander-Arnold set to enter the final six months of his deal in the next couple of days, a decision over his future might not be much further away.

It will be certainly interesting to see if the 26-year-old right-back will make the jump to the Santiago Bernabeu or remain at his boyhood club for longer.
