Let's take a look back to the 2023 summer transfer window, where Southampton pocketed an incredible €183.34m in player sales.
Last season, Southampton were playing in the Championship. Considering the Saints are now in the Premier League, you would assume this would be a season they'd want to forget.
However, the current season is actually one which should be forgotten - The Championship was bliss in comparison.
Southampton have a woeful squad of players who (mostly) are not Premier League ready, which is difficult to believe in hindsight considering Southampton made €183.34m in player sales in the summer of 2023.
Let's take a look through the players sold by Southampton in the 2023 summer transfer window...
The most expensive player sold by Southampton two summers ago was Romeo Lavia. After many clubs were linked with the relegated midfielder, including Liverpool and Arsenal, it was actually Chelsea who unsurprisingly forked out the most amount of cash.
Now, Lavia and co are battling it out for Champions League football under last season's Championship winner Enzo Maresca.
Now an England international, Tino Livramento earned himself a lucrative move to Eddie Howe's Newcastle. While it took him some time to adapt to the new demands, he is now a regular starter for the Magpies and his days at Southampton seem like a distant memory now.
Southampton made €37.2m for the sale of Tino Livramento.
Southampton fans need no introduction to James Ward-Prowse. He is a club legend and one of the longest-serving players. Unfortunately, going down to the Championship meant a sad farewell to JWP.
Southampton sold JWP to West Ham for a reported fee of €34.8m. He had a great first season with the Hammers but now he's out on loan at Nottingham Forest.
The most successful player to leave Southampton two summers ago was Nathan Tella. He joined Bayer Leverkusen, who went the entire Bundesliga season unbeaten under Xabi Alonso - A remarkable achievement, with Tella's name etched into the history books forever.
While his last season was plagued with injuries, Southampton still managed to net themselves a tidy €15m for Mohammed Salisu, who joined Ligue 1 side Monaco.
After spending four years with Southampton, Moussa Djenepo completed the career 360 by returning to Standard Liège, where he was originally signed from.
As part of this deal, Southampton bagged themselves €3.5m in the way of a transfer fee for Djenepo.
Last but not least (well, in terms of transfer fee it is least, but ignore that for a second), it's Mislav Orsic. The Croatian winger will hardly be remembered by Southampton fans given how little he played.
