Ederson’s ability to control the tempo of a game, break up opposition attacks and carry the ball forward has made him one of the most complete midfielders in the Italian top flight.

United will surely need someone like him if they are to bounce back from what has been a hugely disappointing campaign. With the club set to finish outside the European spots and uncertainty still lingering over the managerial situation, a major overhaul is expected.

Ederson could be part of that new-look side. But convincing him to join Old Trafford might not be as straightforward.

City, on the other hand, are not at their dominant best this season either, but they remain well ahead of their cross-town rivals. Pep Guardiola is expected to freshen up his ageing midfield options and Ederson could be an ideal fit in his system.
