Olympique de Marseille have officially confirmed that Michael Amir Murillo has extended his contract at the club until 2028. The news had been expected after reports emerged earlier in the week. Murillo’s contract was previously set to finish in the south of France in 2026.
The right-back who joined Marseille during the 2023 summer transfer window from Belgian side RSC Anderlecht has flourished under the management of Roberto De Zerbi. He has become a key player in the squad and one of the most dependable names on the teamsheet.
However, last weekend he suffered a blow to his season after he picked up a hamstring strain during the 2-0 victory over FC Nantes. The injury could see him on the sidelines for several weeks, with it expected that he will not be fit for the clash with RC Lens on Saturday evening.
The weekend after Marseille play Lens they will come up against their arch-rivals Paris Saint-Germain in the final Le Classique of the season. Marseille lost the home encounter 3-0 back in October.
