As Barcelona gear up to take on Atletico Madrid in a top-of-the-table La Liga encounter on Sunday, they have been greeted with some positive news on the fitness front.
Indeed, as officially announced by the club, forward Ansu Fati has received the clearance from the team’s medical department and is all set to return after over a month out of action.
Ansu, who had already missed a stretch of the early parts of the season, suffered a thigh injury in training in November.
The 22-year-old spent close to a month out of action before resuming training with the rest of the squad over the past week or so.
While the forward was not deemed ready to return for last weekend’s La Liga encounter against Leganes, he has now been given the go-ahead by the medical department.
As such, everything suggests that the La Masia ace will be in the squad list for tomorrow’s home game against Atletico Madrid.
With Barcelona being without star forward Lamine Yamal for the contest, having Ansu back gives manager Hansi Flick an added option in the attacking department.
The 22-year-old has been far from his best once again this season, failing to score or assist a single goal in his seven appearances so far.
And, he will be motivated to change that if the manager gives him a chance tomorrow vs the Colchoneros.
While Ansu has received his medical clearance, Barcelona will be without Yamal, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, and Marc Bernal for the game.
Andreas Christensen, who has resumed training, is unlikely to be called up while Hector Fort is also set to miss the game due to some muscle problems.
