AS Monaco midfielder Félix Lemarechal (20) has joined satellite club Cercle Brugge on a season-long loan, both clubs have announced.
The France youth international, who has often captained the Principality club’s Groupe Élite, has only made two first-team appearances for his formative club. The midfielder spent the second half of last season on loan at Stade Brestois, during which time he made 13 appearances.
However, with the signing of Denis Zakaria, and with Youssouf Fofana likely remaining at the club, Lemarechal was likely to see first-team minutes limited this season. As a result, he will join Belgian side Cercle Brugge, as many of Les Monégasques’ academy prospects do. Jordan Varela made the same move earlier this summer.
Before departing for Belgium in what is just a straight loan, Lemarechal extended his contract with the club until 2027. His old deal was set to expire at the end of the current season.
