Phil Bardsley pens new Burnley contract as Jeff Hendrick exits | OneFootball

Burnley have announced that defender Phil Bardsley has signed a new contract with the club.

The 34-year-old’s previous deal had been set to expire at the end of this month, leading to concern he could depart and not see out the Premier League season.

But Bardsley has inked a one-year extension which will see him through the end of this season and up to the end of the 2020/21 campaign.

He joined the club three years ago from Stoke City and has gone on to appear 53 times for the Clarets, including 14 league outings this year.

However, it isn’t all good news at Turf Moor, with the club confirming that Jeff Hendrick will exit this summer.

His contract is also up next week and the club have been unable to agree terms on an extension, despite renewed recent hope that he could extend his four-year spell.

He joins Joe Hart, Adam Legzdins and Aaron Lennon in leaving upon the expiration of their deals.
