Christian Pulisic is now level with Tijjani Reijnders for Serie A goals in 2024-25 and is now Milan’s leading goalscorer outright across all competitions after his early opener during the team’s 2-0 victory away against Venezia on Sunday afternoon.
The American was in the right place at the right time to capitalise after a Venezia slip-up at the back, forced by Tammy Abraham, which allowed Youssouf Fofana to slip the USMNT star in on goal.
Pulisic is now up to 10 goals and 10 assists in Serie A this season, and has 16 goals across all competitions with the Champions League and Supercoppa Italiana factored in. That puts him level with Reijnders on Serie A goals and makes him the team’s outright leading goalscorer across all competitions.
“I don’t know the numbers, we’re not competing, but it’s always good to score goals and get assists,” Pulisic told DAZN during his post-match interview, reported via Milannews.it.
“That’s our job,” he continued. “We have to be decisive in games. We want to finish well. The Cup (final) is definitely the most important game, but it’s still important to have continuity.”
Prior to kick-off, Pulisic’s USA teammate Gianluca Busio revealed that the pair had an informal ‘bet’ about the result of today’s game.
Asked if he and Busio said anything to each other during the game, Pulisic replied: He’s a great friend, not during the game, but after, yes. It’s always nice to play against a friend.”
