Real Madrid were incessantly linked with centre-back targets through the last summer transfer window and the current situation perfectly emphasises why the club saw it as such a priority.
Los Blancos, after all, are pressed for resources in the defensive department and Leny Yoro’s decision to snub them for Manchester United left the Merengues hanging.
Heading into next summer’s transfer window, the club will thus restart their hunt for a new signing, especially one who can serve as a long-term contributor.
Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni, on that front, has re-emerged as a target.
As revealed by Fichajes, the 25-year-old is seen as a dream target by the Real Madrid administration and is thus a top priority come June. After all, he is seen as one of the best in the world in his position.

Bastoni has been crucial in the Nerazzurri’s run in the Serie A this season and is an undisputed starter under Simone Inzaghi.
His defensive awareness, quality and ability on the ball set him apart from his peers and Real Madrid see him as possessing the exact profile they are hunting for. His age, needless to say, is another pioneering factor for he offers both youth and experience.
The Italian giants value Bastoni dearly and will not make it easy for Real Madrid to sign him in any capacity next summer. Needless to say, it will take an astronomical transfer fee to secure his arrival and Los Blancos are evaluating the same.
Bastoni’s current contract with Inter Milan runs until 2028 and it remains to be seen how many clubs arrive on the scene for his transfer in June. Real Madrid will be one of the frontrunners.
