AC Milan have had an offer for Flamengo’s right-back Wesley rejected, according to a report, and will have to come up if they want to secure the player this month.
Emerson Royal’s struggles in the right-back role have been evident for everyone, and even if he has improved lately, the exit rumours are far from surprising. At the same time, Davide Calabria is expected to leave the club, so Milan have started looking at potential right-back signings.
According to the Brazilian outlet Globo, the Rossoneri have even placed a €20m bid for Flamengo’s right-back Wesley. However, the offer was immediately rejected as the Brazilian side are hoping to cash in even more from the 21-year-old.
Atalanta were interested in the summer, as the report continues, and had even sealed the deal for €20m. The deal fell through in the end as the Bergamo side refused to wait until the end of the Copa Libertadores Round of 16, and since then Wesley has continued to impress.
Flamengo are thus playing hardball and could even wait until the summer to get more, knowing the true value of the player. Everton have also expressed an interest, as the report concludes, and could perhaps pay more than Milan.
