The game against Roma at San Siro tonight looks to have been Paulo Fonseca’s final one in charge of AC Milan, with Sergio Conceicao expected to replace him.

The build-up to the game was nothing short of bizarre as reports emerged moments before kick-off suggesting that Fonseca might be taking charge of his last Milan match. During the first half, he was given a straight red card for protesting what he thoughts was a penalty on Tijjani Reijnders.

As MilanNews report, it is likely that the red card he got was Fonseca’s last action as Milan manager and Conceição is ready to take over from him, a name already linked in the summer.

An agreement with the former Porto coach had already been reached before the match against the Giallorossi and now we are waiting to understand if there will actually be the official communication of the sacking of Fonseca.

According to Sky, the agreement with incoming boss foresees a six-month contract worth €1m net, with an option to renew for an extra year in favour of the Rossoneri.

Fabrizio Romano adds the following: “Milan are on the verge of sacking Paulo Fonseca. Final steps being discussed internally. Sérgio Conceição, ready to become the new head coach if all goes to plan.”
