Sky Germany reports that German-born Bosnia international Sead Kolasinac could return to the Bundesliga this summer with several clubs showing interest in the 31-year-old.
Kolasinac’s contract at current club Atalanta expires in 2025 and the Europa League winners are interested in extending his deal as they have an option to automatically trigger an extension. Several Bundesliga clubs have inquired about the availability of the versatile defender and Kolasinac is open to a return to Germany.
The 31-year-old was born in Karlsruhe but made his name at Schalke where he made 141 appearances for the club across two spells, however, his last appearance for Die Königsblau saw them relegated into the 2.Bundesliga. Kolasinac also featured for Arsenal, Marseille and now Atalanta.
Although the teams that have inquired about Kolasinac are unnamed, suggestions could be made. For example, Borussia Mönchengladbach have shown interest in Bernardo, a player similar in versatility to Kolasinac, so if a move for the Brazilian does not happen Kolasinac could be an alternative.
Other interested teams that could be assumed as interested in Kolasinac are likely competing in Europe, due to the 31-year-old’s wage demands. So Frankfurt and Hoffenheim seem like the teams best suited.
