Sky: Gabbia recovers from neck discomfort in time for Venezia-Milan

Matteo Gabbia has recovered from the neck injury, or rather discomfort, that he sustained during Milan’s 3-0 win against Inter on Wednesday. As such, he will be available tomorrow.

It was in the second half of Inter-Milan that Gabbia headed away a dangerous cross into the box. He had to stretch quite a lot to even reach the ball, and when he made contact with the ball, he seemed to pull his neck. Malick Thiaw replaced him and did well, to be fair, even if Inter didn’t create much.

Contrary to previous reports, which suggested that Gabbia would definitely be rested for the Venezia clash, Sky Italia are now reporting that the defender has recovered. In fact, he’s even expected to play from the first minute in the three-man backline, sending Thiaw back to the bench.

Seeing as Milan don’t exactly have a tight schedule, Sergio Conceicao isn’t keen on making any changes to the starting XI, hoping to keep the momentum going ahead of the Coppa Italia final against Bologna.

Gabbia has thrived in the heart of the three-man defence, doing what he does best with his positioning, aerial ability and calm/collected approach. Meanwhile, both Fikayo Tomori and Strahinja Pavlovic are encouraged to push forward a bit more, which suits them well too.
