Mathys Tel has delivered his verdict on joining Tottenham Hotspur and it is not an encouraging one for Spurs, boosting Manchester United and Arsenal’s hopes.
Spurs have been desperate to land Tel and sent officials to Germany to hold face to face talks with Bayern Munich earlier this week.
A fee of €60m was agreed between the two clubs, but the decision rested on Tel and whether he wanted to make the move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Amid a host of Premier League sides being keen too, a group including Arsenal and Manchester United, Tel has decided.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Tel’s ‘current decision is to reject Tottenham’.
The winger has decided he does not want to join Spurs and has communicated that to the Premier League club.
Unless there is a U-turn in the Bayern Munich star’s thinking, he will not be heading to Spurs.
The door is now open for the winger’s other Premier League suitors to try their luck and aim to do a deal before the window closes on Monday night.
Tel wants more game time, having found it tough to come by at the Allianz Arena this season.
