But after that, it was all downhill for the Celtic goalkeeper. Denmark ended up losing 5-2 to Portugal on the night, while the veteran picked up an injury as well.

Schmeichel appeared to injure his shoulder in the first half of extra-time. But Denmark had already used up all their substitutions and as a result, the goalkeeper decided to carry on despite the injury.

It remains to be seen how serious it turns out to be. Celtic fans will be hoping that Schmeichel did not make matters worse by opting to play on through the pain.
