Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has slammed Endrick's poor decision in front of goal in Wednesday's victory over Getafe.

Ancelotti's side held a narrow 1-0 advantage when Eduardo Camavinga slipped the Brazilian through on goal ten minutes into the second half. Presented with just David Soria to beat, Endrick tried to scoop the ball over Getafe's goalkeeper but failed to make the required connection, ultimately scuffing it straight into his opponents' gloves.

Endrick was subbed off within ten minutes of his failed effort, abruptly concluding the teenager's first La Liga start of the season.

"He can't do these things," Ancelotti huffed after the conclusion of a crucial 1-0 victory which closed the gap to Barcelona to just four points. "He's young and has to learn, but those things don't exist in football. He has to shoot as hard as he can. This isn't a drama club."

The underused forward wasn't the only Madrid player guilty of squandering chances in midweek. "We lack a bit more effectiveness, maybe," Ancelotti conceded. "It's true that we have to be more effective, and we weren't in the first half, with several chances, nor on the counterattack in the second."

Ancelotti had more praise for Arda Guler, who scored the game's only goal in the 21st minute with a powerful blast off his weaker right foot. "He played his way, with quality, calmly, and playing very well," the Italian gushed.

"He has a lot of quality. His future will be more there, as an inside midfielder in a 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 than further forward. The quality he has in building play is phenomenal, and he's shown it in that position. It's true that he lacks a bit of forcefulness in duels, but he has a lot of quality."

Endrick's failed showboating - an aspect of the game which Ancelotti has never been keen on - has not boosted his chances of featuring in Saturday's Copa del Rey final against Barcelona. The return of Kylian Mbappe from injury would have naturally bumped the Brazilian to the bench regardless, although he may be restricted to even fewer minutes in the weeks going forward.
