Rio Ferdinand believes Axel Disasi wasn’t far off asking to come off the pitch against Paris Saint Germain on Wednesday evening.

Disasi joined Villa on loan in January and is expected to leave Chelsea in the summer, with it clear he’s not part of the plans under Enzo Maresca.

The Frenchman has done well at Villa so far making nine appearances in all competitions, and has also been deployed at right back by Unai Emery.

Disasi had difficult time against PSG

Disasi was introduced at half time in place of Matty Cash in the Champions League quarter final against the French champions with the score level at 1-1.

Despite taking the lead Villa struggled from that point and those struggles continued in the second half with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia getting the better of Disasi to give the Parisians the lead with a brilliant finish.

It wasn’t a good moment for the Chelsea loanee as he got turned inside out by the Georgia international, with Ferdinand claiming Disasi didn’t want to be on the pitch.

“Kvaratskhelia is owning the situation and the roll was just nasty, other than laying him out on the floor, he just eliminates him beautifully. It’s the silkiness,” he said on TNT Sports as quoted by Metro.

“This is [Chris] Waddle reincarnated. It’s a wonderful finish with the left foot and it’s probably the only place he scores this goal.

“He made Disasi look like a centre-back playing out of position at right-back.

“In the first ten minutes [of him coming on], I looked at Disasi and was thinking: if he could ask to come off right now, he wouldn’t be far off doing it.

“It’s so difficult. They were flying down that side consistently all the time and making it really difficult for him.”

Disasi has almost certainly played his last game for Chelsea, but the Blues will be hoping he finishes the season strongly so they can get as high a transfer fee as possible.
