Olympique de Marseille president Pablo Longoria made a rare appearance in his own language today, appearing on radio station Cadena SER. The Spaniard went back over his rant following Marseille’s loss at AJ Auxerre which has seen him suspended until at least mid-September by the French Football League. “Those aren’t images I like to see of me, I am very critical of myself. (…) I don’t recognise myself,” said the president of Olympique de Marseille, who had spoken of “corruption” and a “shitty championship” after referee Jérémt Stinat’s decision to send off defender Derek Cornelius. “It’s true that at the moment, the situation of French football is causing a lot of frustration. (…) Frustration is when you don’t have confidence in the system itself. When certain things depend on external factors, you have to have confidence in the system. And that’s not the case here. The loss of confidence was reflected that evening.”GFFN | George Boxall
