Report: Chelsea leading the race for young star compared to Premier League great

Chelsea are leading three Premier League clubs in the race for Lorient midfielder Arthur Avom this summer according to reports.
The Blues seem to love a transfer window and are gearing up for what’s expected to be another busy summer at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea could look to sell as many as seven or eight players to fund their business, with the club looking to sign a striker, defender and right footed attacker.
What Chelsea really need this summer are proven players with leadership and experience to come in and improve the first team.
The last thing fans will want to see are links to more unknown youngsters and project players, many of who may never kick a ball for the club.

Chelsea have already been linked with 17-year-old River Plate attacking midfielder Franco Mastantuono, and it appears they have another name on their list.
The Sun have reported Chelsea are leading three Premier League clubs in the race for Lorient midfielder Avom, who’s described as a rising star in French football.
The report adds scouts from Chelsea, West Ham and Aston Villa have regularly attended his games throughout this campaign, and he’s in no rush to sign a contract extension, despite his current deal reportedly expiring this summer.
The Sun state Avom, who is Cameroonian is often compared to Premier League great Yaya Toure due to similarities with his playing style.
The report adds Chelsea’s interest in the 20-year-old is focused on signing him and then loaning him out to sister club Strasbourg, something that’s worked really well Andrey Santos.

Avom has made 30 appearances in Ligue 2 this season scoring two goals and providing five assists, with Lorient currently three points clear at the top and on course to return to Ligue 1.
Whether this happens or not remains to be seen, but you can’t help but feel given Chelsea’s midfield depth this would be another signing with making a profit in mind.
