Paris Saint-Germain have focused on signing young, up-and-coming talent in recent transfer windows, but both Luis Enrique and Luis Campos understand the importance of experience—as long as it aligns with the club’s culture and playing style.
One area they could look to strengthen is defense, especially with Milan Skriniar expected to leave permanently this summer after his loan move to Fenerbahçe.
Instead of splashing out on a marquee signing, PSG might consider a short-term deal with a familiar opponent. Virgil van Dijk is approaching the end of his contract, and reports suggest he’s on PSG’s radar.
According to Anfield Watch, PSG are preparing an €80 million offer over two years for Liverpool’s captain, with an option for a third season. A significant signing bonus could push the total package to €100 million.

Fichajes reports that FC Barcelona are determined to strengthen their defense with a high-caliber signing and have set their sights on Virgil van Dijk, who could arrive as a free agent in the summer.
The Dutch center-back’s contract with Liverpool is set to expire, and with no progress in renewal talks, the Blaugrana reportedly see a prime opportunity to add him to their squad without a transfer fee. The club’s board, led by Joan Laporta, believes his experience and leadership would be a perfect fit for Hansi Flick’s project, per the report.
Barcelona are anticipating departures in the backline, with Andreas Christensen and Eric García as the leading candidates to leave. Even Ronald Araújo’s future is uncertain, as the club could consider selling him if a significant offer comes in.
According to Fichajes, the Catalan side plans to offer van Dijk a two-year contract, hoping to convince him to accept a competitive project despite financial limitations.
The deal will depend on the Dutchman’s willingness to adjust his salary expectations, as his current wages at Liverpool are high, and the club continues to navigate financial constraints.
David Ornstein of The Athletic previously reported that everyone involved is downplaying the possibility of Van Dijk moving to PSG, adding that Liverpool are confident he will sign an extension.
More recently, ESPN’s Julien Laurens echoed that sentiment, stating that a deal isn’t close—despite a video surfacing of the Liverpool captain with PSG sporting advisor Luis Campos.
