In a major development, MARCA reports that Hansi Flick is all set to renew his contract with FC Barcelona for an additional season, extending his stay at the club until 2027.
The agreement between the German tactician and the club has already been finalised following recent discussions, but the renewal will only be formalised once the current season concludes.
Both parties want to avoid distractions as Barça enter a crucial phase of the campaign, still in contention for a treble. With La Liga, the Copa del Rey final, and the Champions League semi-finals all approaching, the club and coach are prioritising on-pitch performance.
Another key reason for the delay lies in Barcelona’s financial limitations. The club currently lacks the necessary Financial Fair Play margin to register new contracts or player signings.
La Liga recently informed Barcelona that it did not approve the revenue from the sale of VIP boxes at the new Camp Nou, a move that club president Joan Laporta initiated at the end of last year.

Construction of those VIP boxes is still ongoing. Turkish firm Limak, tasked with the project, has promised completion by May.
Barcelona are confident the work will be finished by 30 June – coinciding with the financial year-end. Until then, La Liga will not grant Barcelona any additional Fair Play leeway.
Flick’s extension is in line with his personal preference for short-term commitments. The German coach has previously stated he favours a year-by-year approach rather than long-term contracts.
Barcelona, however, are aiming to give Flick two years of contract security starting next season to provide stability and avoid constant speculation about his future.
This approach ensures that the 60-year-old tactician would remain under contract even if a new president is elected after the next club elections.
Given the results Flick has delivered this season, it seems unlikely that any incoming president would not support his continued leadership.
His measured, performance-first approach has resonated well within the club and among fans, positioning him as a pillar of Barcelona’s evolving project.
