With La Liga still being up for grabs, FC Barcelona will not be looking to slow down their momentum. For the Catalan giants, it is just as important of an objective as the other titles that they are competing for. Moreover, with Barcelona only having a four point lead for now, they will want to extend it to seven again.
Against RCD Mallorca, a side that is currently 7th in La Liga, Hansi Flick’s team will need to be at their lethal best. While Barça’s defensive fragilities have definitely been exploited in recent games, this is their opportunity to showcase a more balanced version of their game plan.
Here is how Barcelona could line up for this league clash.
Expected Line-up:
Goalkeeper: Wojciech Szczesny
While the return of Marc-Andre Ter Stegen could possibly give Hansi Flick a lot more to think about, Wojciech Szczesny’s starting spot is safe for now and he should be starting this game for Barcelona.
Right-back: Jules Kounde
Even with no rest, the Frenchman continues to play almost every game for the team. While his performances have proven to be inconsistent at times this season, he remains Barça’s best option in the position.
Centre-back: Pau Cubarsi
The young Barcelona defender remains one of the promising talents in world football, and he deserves every bit of the praise that comes his way. However, he has to make sure he minimizes his errors as the season is now at a stage where even a single mistake can have big consequences.
Centre-back: Inigo Martinez
Despite the fact that he did not exactly have his best game against Celta Vigo, Inigo Martinez remains a key player for Barcelona this season. His presence will always be needed in crucial games.
Left-back: Gerard Martin
While it is true that Gerard Martin does not offer the same qualities that Alejandro Balde does, he needs to find his own strengths. In the coming weeks, he is expected to be tested a lot and he will need to do his best to overcome those challenges.
CDM: Frenkie de Jong
Often times the player who enables those around him to play better, Frenkie de Jong is a crucial component of this team. Fortunately for Barcelona, he is fully available and is enjoying a good run of form.
CDM: Pedri
The midfield maestro for Barcelona continues to give them reasons to expect great things this season, and that is exactly why Pedri is so valuable. His composure and technique are simply the heart of this team and it almost always fails without him.
RAM: Lamine Yamal
Sorely missed against Celta Vigo when he was not on the pitch, his introduction completely turned the tide of the match. For this game, it now appears likely that he could end up starting for Barcelona as the team moves closer to the Copa del Rey final.
CAM: Dani Olmo
A game-changer in the last game, Dani Olmo proved exactly why he is so important to this team and why Barça needs him to be available. In this game, if he does end up starting, he could create issues for Mallorca.
LAM: Raphinha
With a match-winning performance in his last outing against Celta Vigo, Raphinha currently has all the momentum in the world backing him up. Thus, for this upcoming game, he can be a key factor in enabling Barcelona to get all three points.
Centre-forward: Ferran Torres
With Robert Lewandowski out injured, this is the moment for Ferran Torres to step up. The Spaniard has the ability to make some dangerous runs in behind and he has proven his ability to be efficient in front of goal.
Thus, for the €28 million-rated forward, as per his Transfermarkt valuation, this is a big opportunity to prove himself under the spotlight as a player that can lead Barcelona. Now, it remains to be seen how he does if he does end up starting.
