According to a report from SPORT, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has decided to take the entire first-team squad—injured players included—to Seville for the Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid.

For what it is worth, this remains a symbolic but powerful gesture that underlines his idea that everyone counts, whether or not they are on the pitch or not.

Apparently, as a part of Flick’s regime, the likes of Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Alejandro Balde, and Marc Bernal are not expected to feature.

To begin with, Bernal is definitely ruled out until next season as he continues his recovery from a knee injury. Furthermore, even as Balde, although recovering nicely, stays practically unavailable.

Meanwhile, Ter Stegen is the wildcard, as he might be medically cleared in time, but will almost definitely remain on the bench if included at all.

Exciting debate for Flick

The goalkeeper scenario itself offers a thrilling subplot at Barcelona. Wojciech Szczesny, brought in to provide cover, is expected to continue as the starting keeper for the remainder of the season.

Flick appears unwilling to take unnecessary risks with Ter Stegen, specifically considering the high-stakes nature of the upcoming matches and the German’s lengthy absence through injury.

There is, however, a chance that Ter Stegen could return in a LaLiga match if the title is already wrapped up.

This move by Flick isn’t just about logistics—it is a psychological play. He wants every member of the team, regardless of fitness, to feel part of the campaign’s climax.

Flick wants unity

This Copa del Rey final is certainly bigger than just a trophy possibility, as it could be a turning factor that would propel Barcelona in the direction of the historical treble they have set their eyes on.

The manager believes that growing a sense of unity and purpose off the pitch will translate into better chemistry and commitment on it.

Having everyone together in the final preparations, the hotel, and even in the dugout, injured or not, builds a fortress of belief. It’s the kind of small but strategic decision that can create intangible yet invaluable momentum.
