This upcoming summer transfer window is expected to be a significant one for Celtic. We already know the identity of one player who will be arriving at Parkhead in the summer. Kieran Tierney has agreed a pre-contract with the Hoops and will be making a return to Glasgow, after leaving in 2019 to join Arsenal.
Another former Celtic full-back looks set to be on the move this summer. And while he won't be returning to Parkhead, his transfer might end up benefiting the Hoops, nonetheless.
As reported by Florian Plettenberg, Jeremie Frimpong is ready for the next step and is planning a move in the summer. Spain and England are two options for him. There are already concrete enquiries. He can leave Bayer Leverkusen for around €40 million.
Frimpong left Celtic in early 2021 to join Bayer Leverkusen and has grown into one of the most effective full-backs in world football since then. He also has the ability to play further up the pitch as a wing-back or even a winger.
The likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, Real Madrid and several others have been linked with Frimpong have been linked with Frimpong over the years. So, that €40 million transfer valuation might not prove to be a problem.
It is worth pointing out that Celtic are believed to hold a significant sell-on clause in the deal. So, a move for Frimpong would bring a cash boost to the Hoops as well.
Liverpool does look like an interesting option considering the fact that Trent Alexander-Arnold could end up leaving Anfield in the summer. As a result, signing someone like Frimpong might make a lot of sense for the Premier League side as the Dutchman has a lot of similar qualities as well.
