Went to Newcastle United Town Moor event site on Friday night – A few things to mention

The big day has finally arrived, the Newcastle United victory parade and the Town Moor event.

I saw the article on The Mag on Friday giving the full details (see below) of the club’s official guidance and information of what is happening.

Living near the Town Moor and going on my daily walk there, I thought I would share a few thoughts on what I saw there on Friday night (around 6pm) and took a few photos as well.

Just thought it might give a few pointers for some of the tens of thousands of Newcastle United fans who are also heading to the Town Moor event later today.

Anyway, here you go, this is what I found last night.

There were no entrance signs… just exit signs!

There are no fences erected and the wooden low fences that normally keep the cows in (when they are there) have been removed in places as exits, and I’m assuming and hoping entrances.

The space where people are to stand is way smaller in depth than I anticipated (food vans at the back).

So I’m not going to leave it too late to go.

Especially as the two side screens at the stage and a couple more wider, are the only screens and they are not that big!

A lot of people will have to be at the sides and unable to see much!

Now in between 6pm on Friday night and Saturday afternoon, there could be a lot more having been done, signs put up, entrances made clear. However, when I was there last night at the Town Moor site, it wasn’t really a hive of activity.

One thing I have wondered about, is that whilst the club have put out a lot of official announcements on their website and social media, I haven’t seen anywhere that is telling Newcastle United fans where the various entrances are, so is it just going to be one big one?

It hasn’t been made public just how many fans have registered for Town Moor tickets but those of us who go to matches, know that it takes time to check and scan digital tickets. So if say 100,000 are turning up today, including a lot of fans who don’t get to matches very often, if at all, that is a canny few supporters to process.

I looked at the club’s FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) and found this question:

‘How do I enter and exit the event?’

Then this answer:

Supporter will be able to enter the event from various sites across the Town Moor. More information and a site map will be shared ahead of the event.’

It looks like this was put up eight days ago and hasn’t been updated since then, whilst I have looked and can’t find any site map at all of the Town Moor event, only the club/council images of the route the open top bus will take.

My conclusions

Having gone across to the Town Moor event site last night, I think that anyone, if they want to, will be able to get into this Town Moor event, in my humble opinion. To properly fence in the entire site would have been a massive undertaking, especially for a one-off event.

The space in front of the stage (after the VIP part at the front – photo below) is no way able to take the number of people going to the event, so we’ve decided to go straight there and not bother about the parade as well.

Bottom line, you are not going to see a band with great sound and screens all over, so for most fans it will be to just to have been there… but it would be nice to be central enough to see the screens and not be at the sides. If we can get between the stage and the food vans then I’ll be content. Not sure what the other 100k+ people will be doing!!!

The Mag report – 28 March 2025:

It has now been revealed that Ant and Dec will headline the Newcastle United Town Moor celebrations.

Friday afternoon seeing the club release details of the entertainment line-up (see below).

The Newcastle United victory parade ending at the Town Moor event.

The main stage entertainment at the Town Moor scheduled to start at 4pm (after showing a Carabao Cup Final replay on big screens).

As well as Ant and Dec, the event will feature the likes of Alan Shearer and Les Ferdinand.

Plus of course the really important bit, the trophy lift and question and answer session with Eddie Howe and the Newcastle United players.

Hundreds of thousands of Newcastle United fans are expected to attend the Newcastle United victory parade and/or Town Moor event.

However, if you can’t make it in person, it has now been made public that you can still follow it live via a live NUFC YouTube broadcast.

Club official announcementNewcastle United victory parade and Town Moor event – 28 March 2025:

Newcastle United has issued important event information to ensure spectators enjoy this Saturday’s open-top bus parade and open-air event safely.

The club’s first team players and staff will be bringing the Carabao Cup trophy to the streets of Newcastle city centre on Saturday 29th March before a spectacular open-air event on the Town Moor.

Those with tickets for the event at the Town Moor are encouraged to go directly to the Town Moor site, where the parade will be streamed live on large screens, rather than the parade route.

As part of the event, primary partner Sela will end the celebrations with a spectacular show, whilst the Club’s delivery partner, InPost, will support throughout the day. .

Newcastle United will have a visible stewarding presence across the Town Moor event site, supported by the club’s Safeguarding and Welfare team.

Along the parade, there will be designated safeguarding stewards, supported by a team of Newcastle City Council staff. Clear procedures for dealing with safeguarding issues are in place.

At the Town Moor, Newcastle United will deploy its own team of Wellbeing Officers whose role will be to manage any safeguarding issues, as well as hand out wristbands and provide general welfare advice and support. There will be three welfare tents on the site which will act as ‘lost child’ points and somewhere attendees can access general welfare support, including water and phone charging facilities.

Attendees with safeguarding concerns can also raise them with their nearest steward who will alert the Wellbeing team accordingly.

The club is also operating a ‘child safety’ wristband scheme on the day, designed to help event staff re-unite lost children with parents and carers should they become separated. Wristbands can be obtained from the Gate, Eldon Square, Haymarket, St Thomas’ Church Haymarket, Monument Metro, Central Metro, Haymarket Bus Station, Greggs Gallowgate, Costa Gallowgate, Central Station and St James’ Stack.
