Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain are set for a high-stakes UEFA Champions League semifinal, with just 180 minutes standing between them and a place in the final. While they already faced each other in the group stage, and PSG are a different team, one former coach sees the English side advancing.
The Gunners booked their spot with a composed 2-1 win over Real Madrid in the second leg, completing a dominant 5-1 victory on aggregate.
PSG also progressed with a 5-1 lead, but their path was far more dramatic—barely hanging on as the tie finished 5-4 on aggregate in a tense finale.

Former manager of AC Milan, Real Madrid, and Juventus, among others, Fabio Capello, was asked about the upcoming semifinal between PSG and Arsenal during the Laureus World Sports Awards. The 1994 Champions League winner with AC Milan gave the edge to the English club.
Here’s what Capello had to say and why he sees the Gunners advancing past the Ligue 1 side (h/t Paris Fans):
“Arsenal have it all: quality, balance on the pitch, and good physical condition—just like PSG at the moment. From that perspective, both teams are evenly matched. But right now, I think Arsenal have something extra: quality and physical strength.
“Both sides have a great team spirit, but Arsenal have a lot of personality. They play together, work hard together. The tempo of their matches is very high. It’s going to be a fantastic matchup, but if I had to bet, I think Arsenal will come out on top.
“I’ve never seen an English team play this well—aside from City, who are a different case. If we’re talking about the traditional English style, not Guardiola’s version, I find that Arsenal are playing really, really well—with technical quality and physical power.”
