According to The Athletic, Carlo Ancelotti has already informed some of his players in informal conversations that he will leave Real Madrid at the end of the La Liga season.

The Italian manager’s future has been uncertain for a while, and the recent defeat in the Copa del Rey final to Barcelona has cast a long shadow over his tenure.

With the expectation that he will take over the Brazil national team in June, it now seems certain that he will not be in charge for the upcoming Club World Cup.

What is happening at Real Madrid?

Sources from the club’s training ground indicate that Ancelotti has spoken to members of the squad about his intention to step down.

Although his departure has not been officially confirmed, it seems only a matter of time before the announcement is made.

With just a handful of matches left in the season, Ancelotti now faces the task of leading his team to a La Liga title, with his last games expected to be his final opportunity to leave a lasting legacy at the club.

Ancelotti’s last chance to seal La Liga glory

Ancelotti still has five more matches left to try to secure the La Liga title for Real Madrid. Their next fixture is a home match against Celta Vigo, followed by the high-stakes El Clásico away at Barcelona on May 11.

After that, Real Madrid will host Mallorca before heading to Sevilla for another crucial away match.

Their final game of the season is at home to Real Sociedad, scheduled for the weekend of May 25/26. This is expected to be Ancelotti’s last game in charge of Los Blancos.

Despite the successes of last season, where Ancelotti guided Real Madrid to both La Liga and the UEFA Champions League titles, this campaign has been underwhelming.

Injuries have played their part, but tactical issues and the club’s failure to make timely market moves have equally contributed to their struggles.
