There is growing concern that Manchester United and midfielder Kobbie Mainoo could part ways this summer in a messy divorce.
Despite Sir Jim Ratcliffe claiming earlier this month that the club were eager to keep hold of all of their young stars, that may not be the case with the academy product.
The Manchester Evening News report that Mainoo's camp and the club have now been in discussions over a new contract for a year but are yet to reach an agreement.
As a result, it is claimed that there is a 'genuine chance' he will leave Old Trafford at the end of the season, with United potentially forced to cash in on the 19-year-old, who currently has two years remaining on his existing contract.
There is also concern that Mainoo does not have a settled role within Ruben Amorim's tactical set-up, which could further force the issue.
Having started out as a deeper lying midfielder under the Portuguese coach, he has been utilised in a more advanced role of late.
United would apparently seek a fee of close to £70m for the England international who would not be short of suitors, with Chelsea most closely linked with a move for his services.
