Serie A refereeing expert Graziano Cesari feels VAR should’ve intervened for an Evan Ndicka foul on Yann Bisseck inside the penalty area.
The former Italian top flight referee gave his thoughts after the match on SportMediaset, via FCInterNews.
Referee Michael Fabbri had a major decision to make late in the second half of yesterday’s Serie A clash between Inter Milan and Roma.
Giallorossi defender Evan Ndicka had appeared to haul down his Inter counterpart Yann Bisseck inside the penalty area.
The Ivorian had both arms around the waste of his opponent, dragging him back for several yards.
And considering that Bisseck was the wrong side of Ndicka, it appeared particularly blatant. The German looked to have a good chance to turn in a Marko Arnautovic header without the contact.

However, referee Michael Fabbri did not point to the spot.
Moreover, and just as significantly, VAR Marco Di Bello did not intervene and advise Fabbri to go to his monitor to have a second look at the incident.
Refereeing expert Cesari noted that “in the 89th minute, there was a cross into the area, and then Arnautovic puts it back into the middle of the area.”
“Bisseck goes to ground and protests.”
“From the video you can see Inzaghi say to Fabbri, ‘it’s all fine, it’s all as I thought,'” Cesari noted. “Not exactly a subtle hint.”
Cesari goes on to note that “in the video you can see that Bisseck gets in front of Ndicka.”
“Ndicka isn’t able to challenge for the ball. And the referee has a clear view of it to make a decision.”
“But waves his arms and does nothing,” Cesari said of Fabbri.
“First, Ndicka holds Bisseck from behind, and then he further holds him with his right arm. Dragging his opponent to the ground.”
“Ndicka makes no attempt for thje ball,” Cesari continued. “His only goal is to stop the opponent.”
“For me it’s definitely an incident where VAR should intervene,” the Serie A refereeing expert argued.
