Augsburg goalkeeper Finn Dahmen has revealed that he is next in line to be called up to the Germany squad in the case of injury to Oliver Baumann, Alexander Nübel or Stefan Ortega.
With Manuel Neuer retiring from international duty and Marc-André ter Stegen ruled out long-term with a knee injury, an opportunity has emerged for a new man to stake his claim as Germany's No.1.
It is understood that Julian Nagelsmann sees Hoffenheim shot-stopper Baumann as his first choice, with Nübel (VfB Stuttgart) and Ortega (Manchester City) acting as understudies in Germany's upcoming UEFA Nations League quarter-final meetings with Italy.

But Dahmen, who has gone 613 minutes without conceding in the Bundesliga of late, isn't too far down the pecking order, with national team goalkeeper coaches Andreas Kronenberg and Michael Fuchs contacting him recently.
"I heard that they have me on their radar and that they like how I'm playing at the moment," he told the Augsburger Allgemeinen podcast. "I haven't achieved anything yet, I'm still relatively far away from playing. It was crazy how quickly it happened!"
Former U21 goalkeeper Dahmen, who remains eligible to play for England through his mother, recently moved into the all-time top 10 of goalkeepers with the longest runs without conceding in the Bundesliga.
