The Masters, one of the most eagerly anticipated events on the golf calendar, begins at the iconic Augusta National on Thursday and once again the biggest names in the game are dominating the betting and the storylines.

World number one Scottie Scheffler is chasing a third Masters green jacket following victories in 2022 and 2024 and the American is 21/5 favourite with sportsbook CopyBet to defend his title this weekend. All other contenders are priced up at 13/1 or longer with the exception of a certain Rory Mcllroy.

The Northern Irishman has three of the four majors in his trophy cabinet but The Masters has so far evaded him and it’s now a decade since McIlroy tasted victory in a major tournament. To put it lightly, he’s desperate to end the drought. CopyBet have the 35-year-old as 6/1 second favourite in the outright betting, 7/5 for a top 5 finish and 23/10 to be the top European.

American Xander Schauffele enjoyed a 2024 to remember, winning both the PGA Championship and the Open Championship and he’s gone close at Augusta in the past, finishing tied second back in 2019. The Californian is currently ranked second in the world and will have plenty of backers at 20/1 in the betting.

One man who has triumphed at Augusta in the past is Jon Rahm and the big Spaniard is 14/1 to repeat his heroics of 2023 and come out on top. 2021 winner Hideki Matsuyama is 28/1 this time around, 2015 victor Jordan Spieth is 33/1 and 2017 champion Sergio Garcia is a longer shot at 50/1.

It’s set to be an enthralling four days of viewing for golf fans and CopyBet has punters covered with a number of different betting markets including Leader After 1st Round, Nationality of Winner and Top Debutant. Another market that always sees some interest is whether we’ll witness a hole in one during the 72 hole event.

In the history of The Masters there have been 34 holes in ones recorded with the most recent of which being Stewart Cink in 2022. Another one this year is 4/7 while Australia’s Min Woo Lee is 50/1 favourite for an ace.

To add to the excitement of The Masters, CopyBet are running a free bet competition on their social channels, inviting followers to predict the winner for the chance to win a £50 free bet.
