Serie A side Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso signals interest in keeping David De Gea for next season.

Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports via La Gazzetta dello Sport, Fiorentina CEO Rocco Commisso reflected on the transfer markets of this season as he talked about players he expects to retain for the next one. Former Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea’s name came up in this list as Commisso said: “The intention is to keep players like De Gea and Fagioli but I don’t want to say more. We’ll see if they also want to stay, so we can start next year with an even stronger team.”

De Gea has emerged as one of the outstanding performers of the team this season and he brought back his old form to Fiorentina after leaving Manchester United and joining Fiorentina.

Currently sitting in 8th place in the league standings, the Viola are dreaming of a Europa League spot with 51 points on the board right now. Only five points separate Fiorentina from the top four places and a late surge in form is expected from the Florence-based side.

Commisso claimed that he has the most powerful Fiorentina team since he became the owner as he said: “This year I have the strongest team since I became the owner”
